**Directorate**

You will be leading a well-regarded and established team, one that has seen considerable growth in profile over the last 5 years. This is an opportunity to expand upon the positive impact the team has already had at a critical time for the University. Your leadership across the organisation will be essential in delivering further procurement improvements as we embark on the University’s new strategy.

**What you will be doing**:

- Lead and advise the senior management team regarding procurement activities and purchasing culture across the University, defining procurement strategies, policies and procedures to meet business needs.
- Define, develop and lead the procurement service so that it proactively provides professional advice to the University senior management team, to support effective decision-making.
- Manage a centrally based team of Procurement professionals responsible for the delivery of procurement and insurance services ensuring targets and standards are successfully achieved according to policies and regulations and that reporting requirements are completed to a high standard and on time.
- Lead the evaluation and agreement of high value capital and revenue contracts, identifying issues and opportunities to ensure contracts offer value for money and are fit for purpose.
- Line management, staff development and training of the Procurement team to develop capability levels.

**Qualifications/ experience**:
CIPS qualified with extensive post-CIPS senior purchasing experience in a large and complex organisation.

Experience of leading change, in respect of procurement activities and processes.
