Oncall Home care is hiring Support Workers.
The support worker will be responsible to the senior staff and have the capacity to work well with service users and colleagues. It is extremely important to communicate effectively within a team this should be extended to individuals, relatives, friends, social workers, and the community in the locality. Staff will be expected to contribute to the formal supervision process which operates throughout Oncall Care Services
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- To develop and maintain the skills of the service user by encouraging and involving them in day-to-day activities, participating in service users chosen activities and enhancing community networks.
- To observe the service users, need for confidentiality and privacy as an aim and as a professional attitude.
- To facilitate and support the person to make all decisions affecting their life.
- To support the service user, maintain their health and general wellbeing.
- To support the service user with personal care as required.
- To carry out household duties, in a way that involves the person as much as possible
- To administer medication according to procedure.
- To support the service user with the management of their personal finances and in accordance with the service procedure.
- To support the service user to plan social activities and holidays and to accompany the service user when required.
- To have an intimate knowledge of the daily routine policies and procedures of the service and to work within them.
- Provide support to the service user as identified in individualised care plan such as ensuring a healthy diet and promote healthy life choices.
- To report any areas of concern to a senior member of staff on duty and to utilise the manager on call systems out of hours to seek advice and guidance when necessary.
- To record daily outcomes and update care plans and support packages as required.
- To promote anti-discriminatory practice throughout the work force and maintain equality and diversity throughout our service.
- To adhere to all policies and procedures and to assist in developing, monitoring, and implementing them.
- To receive regular formal supervision and undertake training as required, and to contribute towards the induction of new staff member.
**Specific Duties include**:
- Delivering of a clearly defined programme of support for each service user and ensuring that such service user files are recorded and maintained accurately.
- Liaising with relatives, Care Managers, and other professionals in consultation with the Manager.
- Liaising with other professionals as appropriate. (For example, the Police, Youth Offending Services, Education services, Social Care professionals, therapeutic services, community-based resources, etc.)
- To ensure that the agreed support plans and risk management plans and behavioural guidelines for each service user are followed in conjunction with the Management team.
- To work with all staff in providing an effective service and to demonstrate a reasonable degree of flexibility to ensure all shifts are covered.
- To contribute to the preparation of reports and participate in service users’ reviews as required.
- To support daytime opportunities, following individual leisure or occupation programmes in conjunction with, and following guidance from, management.
- To accompany and organise transport which requires service users to attend activities outside of their home or on specific appointments.
- Ensure (where specifically detailed in the service users plan) that personal care tasks are carried out in a way the service user prefers and with absolute dignity and respect.
Tasks and responsibilities are, in many circumstances, unpredictable and varied and may include weekend and evening working. All staff are, therefore, expected to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises, when tasks not specifically covered in their job description must be undertaken. **Essential experience, skills and qualifications for this role include**:
- Excellent organisational and time management.
- Strong IT skills.
- Good numeracy, literacy, and verbal communication skills.
- Clear understanding of Health & Social Care Standards.
- Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team
- Ability to use your personal skills to help individuals develop.
- SVQ3 in Health & Social Care or a commitment to undertaking this qualification.
- Registration with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or a commitment to become registered within six months of commencing role.
- Driving license required
