**Qualification** - Teaching qualifications, Professional Development Qualification relevant to the role, Subject competency (English and/or maths)

**Manchester Adult Education** has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivating English and/or Maths Lecturer to join our team. The role will involve the planning, delivery and assessment of part-time adult courses. This is a casual (hourly paid) role teaching daytimes and some evening sessions (if applicable). Casual roles can be short term cover for sickness or training or longer term teaching a regular class.

**These courses include**:

- Functional Skills/Awards (Entry Level to Level 2)
- GCSE
- Context specific courses
- Booster /Support classes

**Key responsibilities**:
To teach online lessons (where appropriate) as well as teaching in our centres across the city as needed, this may involve the occasional evening class

You will be joining a committed and supportive team of teachers who are passionate industry specialists who work together to support the adult learners in the community to achieve their goals and secure employment or advance to higher education.

To deliver teaching and learning to at least a consistently good or outstanding standard

To assess learners and work accurately against appropriate awarding body criteria/key course targets to ensure learners achieve their qualifications/course goals.

To comply with safeguarding procedures.

To take course leadership responsibilities (where applicable)

To take part in team meetings and working groups.

To ensure close liaison and good communications with other staff in matters concerning learners.

To comply with the service quality assurance procedures.

To comply with the service policies and procedures including maintaining records on learners including attendance and achievement.

To positively represent the MAES both internally and externally at all times.
- You will be joining a committed and supportive team of teachers who are passionate about supporting adult learners in the community to improve their English and/or maths skills to secure employment, advance to higher education and achieve their full potential.

Have a track record of successfully delivering English and Maths courses to varying skills and knowledge levels including learners with additional needs.

**You should be able to**demonstrate**:

- Professional and academic competence/qualifications to teach on the courses.
- Experience of adopting a range of teaching and learning strategies both face to face and online.
- Use of e-learning platforms such as Google Classroom and others (e.g. BKSB) or the willingness to learn.
- Commitment to develop your professional development
- A flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to engage and develop adult learners, and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.
- Hold GCSE A* - C / 9 - 4 in English or equivalent (essential)
- Hold GCSE A* - C / 9 - 4 in Maths or equivalent (essential)
