Viking Link is a 1,400 MW high voltage direct current (HVDC) interconnector, stretching approximately 760 km between Bicker Fen in Lincolnshire, Great Britain and the substation in South Jutland, Denmark.
Balfour Beatty is managing the civil design and build including cable installation (67 km) between the Transition Joint Bay location at Boy Grift to the boundary of the new Converter Station site at Bicker Fen.
Balfour Beatty’s scope of works includes:
- Pre-construction drainage
- Haul road/ track way (approx.60km)
- Site compounds (3 x Primary, 5 Secondary and 7 storage)
- Access Bridges (10)
- Duct installation
- Horizontal Directional Drills (98)
- Cable pulling
- Joint bays (59)
- Archaeology, and Re-instatement
On completion, this will be the world’s longest interconnector providing electricity to 1.4m homes, enabling the more effective use of renewable energy, access to sustainable electricity generation and improved security of electricity supplies. It will alsobenefit the socio economy of both countries.
As an **Agricultural Liaison Officer**, you will have the following accountabilities:
- Involvement in the day-to-day running of the projects as instructed by Balfour Beatty with the purpose of agreeing access onto private land;
- Work closely with the Balfour Beatty PMO delivery team and other project subcontractors and consultancy teams to ensure landowners requirements are communicated and managed during the construction works;
- Resolution of landowners & clients complaints and defects and provide landowner and agricultural advice to project staff and project consultants as required;
- Correspondence with land agents, land owners, solicitor, local authorities, associated works contractors etc. and the preparation of notices and other formalities for entry on to private land;
- Meetings on site prior to works commencing in order to agree access for works to be undertaken and undertake daily site visits to ensure works being carried out are compliant with landowners requirements;
- Assistance in the negotiation of compensation claims including site visits;
- Assisting in providing regular client update reports and attending scheme progress meetings as required;
- Working with AutoCad mapping systems, including the preparation of Notice plans, access plans and Schedules of Works.
You will have the following:
- Sound knowledge of agriculture legislation, policy and best practice guidance across a range of areas including agricultural, drainage and soil assessment and management;
- Sound knowledge and understanding of DEFRA guidelines;
- Previous experience of working on large cross country infrastructure projects;
- Experience of working with numerous landowners at one time;
- Organised and able to manage a busy work load;
- Excellent communication skills and credibility with farmers and landowners;
- Experience working with soils and managing soil handling compliance to ensure private land is handed back to specification;
- Attention to detail and problem solver;
- Previous experience working on large pipeline/cabling projects would be ideal;
- Knowledge of working under DCO (Development Consents Order).
