This post has cross-site responsibility for the provision of Speech and Language Therapy in the clinical area of stroke. This encompasses the whole stroke pathway from acute stroke units to community and includes home visits, telehealth and outpatient clinics in both North and North East Lincolnshire, providing intensive and innovative interventions as clinical need dictates.

In this role, you will identify and implement evidence-based practice and lead on research and quality improvements related to SLT and stroke. You will be expected to work as a member of the stroke multidisciplinary team and participate in relevant meetings eg. Stroke Governance; Quality and Safety groups.

You will deliver expert-level Speech and Language Therapy input to highly complex patients and will also be expected to provide some support for caseloads in the acute setting, including patients with complex dysphagia.

You will share the leadership of our well-established, weekly SLT-led Videofluoroscopy clinics available on both sites and will join us in developing our new and exciting FEES service.

Supported by the SLT site team leads, you would be expected to lead the SLT stroke team, managing day-to-day issues and providing some line management duties e.g appraisals, supervision. The post-holder will be an essential team member within the service, working closely with Band 7 peers and the Operational Lead to lead the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Service, ensuring equity of services.

- Develop and lead on the provision of an efficient and effective Speech and Language therapy service to patients in agreed service area.
- Attend ward rounds and MDT meetings on both main hospital sites or in the community as required.
- Practice autonomously demonstrating expert problem solving and clinical decision making skills while demonstrating professional accountability and responsibility.
- Be a role model for the wider team by promoting a positive research culture.
- Identify, promote and embed evidence and identify impact measures using findings to enhance future activity.
- Identify and support the achievement of learning needs of individuals/team in response to service need and personal development planning.
- Identify priorities for evidence based audit and research projects, taking a lead to ensure these are undertaken to promote continuous quality improvement in the service.
- Propose practice and policy changes that impact on the wider service and implement changes in own area.
- Act as a change agent.
- Provide leadership for quality improvement and service development to enhance people's wellbeing and experiences of healthcare
