Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) are seeking highly-motivated and dynamic individuals to join a growing team of Advanced Critical Care Practitioners(ACCPs).
Applicants from professional groups who are eligible to undertake non-medical prescribing under current statutory regulation with significant Critical Care experience, are welcomed to apply.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a bespoke programme of education and clinical simulation, delivered collaboratively with the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, that complements the Higher Education Academic Studies and the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) competency requirements.
The successful applicant will have to commit to participating in and completing an academic and clinical training programme, leading to an MSc in Advanced Critical Care Practice and membership with FICM.
There will be clinical training and learning opportunities with robust assessment of practice overseen by a nominated Consultant educational supervisor. Trainees will have the opportunity to rotate across Guy's, St Thomas', Royal Brompton and Harefield’s Critical Care Units as part of the training programme.
The post holder will be paid at band 7 whilst on the training programme. Upon successful completion of the of the programme and obtaining FICM Membership the post holder will transition onto a qualified ACCP Contract (Band 8a).
This post is aimed at developing new ways of sustainable working within critical care. The ACCP Role is a nationally recognised role which offers an exciting opportunity for senior professionals with Critical Care experience to develop their skills further.
With mentor support, the ACCP will integrate into the existing critical care team, to carry out extended roles both within the critical care unit and to patients requiring Critical Care intervention trust wide. ACCPs are highly experienced and educated members of the critical care team who are empowered to make high-level clinical decisions and to work autonomously in recognised situations.

Critical Care at Guy's and St Thomas' is one of the largest, most specialised and comprehensive critical care services in the NHS and is located in the centre of London. It is also one of six ECMO centres in the UK, with a 24/7 consultant-led retrieval service and engage closely with referring centres to inform of best clinical practice. The critical care service is recognised internationally for supporting patients beyond the walls of intensive care and taking a holistic view of their recovery back to health. The department runs a well-established recovery clinic and peer support group, led by a multi-disciplinary team of critical care professionals.
