**Could you help local refugees by supporting with interpretation and translation?**

(for speakers of **Dari, Pashto, Urdu, Farsi and Arabic**)

Connection Support provides a range of emotional and practical support to help refugees resettling into the UK as part of the government’s UKRS (UK Resettlement Scheme) and ARAP (Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy). This includes supporting families from Syria, Iraq, Sudan, Afghanistan, and the Republic of Congo, among others.

We are looking for volunteers in Oxfordshire to support with the interpretation and translation of verbal and written information. This may include translating written information and specific text from Connection’s publicity leaflets and materials, as well as working with clients who cannot communicate in English.

**Ways you can help**:

- Interpreting and translating for clients and their allocated support workers during client visits, assessments, and appointments.
- Translating written information and publicity materials into community languages.
- Interpreting at Connection Support and similar events.

**Volunteer profile**:

- Speak fluently in English and at least one other language (main languages needed: Pashto, Dari, Farsi, Urdu)
- Impartial and non-judgemental approach to interpreting
- Cultural awareness
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Good communication skills
- Respect confidentiality
- A DBS check will need to be completed by all volunteers

**Hours**: We can be entirely flexible to suit your availability. Translation is likely to be needed on a case-by-case basis.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Volunteer
Part-time hours: 1-2 per week

**Salary**: £1.00 per year
