**Job Description**:
Our client, a public sector body are looking for a part time Governance Advisor.
This role can be based in either Edinburgh or Glasgow and is for between 10 - 15 days work over the next 6 months.
The role is renumerated £600 per day (Inside IR35) umbrella.
You will conduct a review of the governance arrangements in place for the organisation and recommendations for future development. This would suit someone with Government experience and already working on this basis for other similar organisations or someone looking to build up a portfolio of clients.
The client is looking to contract a highly experienced Public Sector Governance Advisor to support the Chair,
**Board, CEO and Executive Team in the development of the scope of work set out below.**

**Main duties**:

- Provide advice;- Carry out due diligence and a review on the existing governance set-up;- Deliver elements of the governance work required;- Support the organisation through its first external audit;- Review the set-up activities and evolution of organisation to date;- Provide support for future governance and planning requirements.**Essential criteria**:

- Demonstrable experience at a senior level within, or working closely alongside, the public sector in Scotland- Strong understanding of the roles and relationships between key legislative and legal institutions in Scotland, as well as the frameworks of public A strong and holistic understanding of a public body's corporate map and what is needed to support it- Experience of setting up a public body, or contributing the set-up of a new public body, within the Scottish devolved policy landscape- Knowledge of effective governance, including developing systems and structures that support appropriate oversight- accountability including parliamentary scrutiny- Good knowledge of Scottish Government's governance processes.- Knowledge of the Scottish Government budgetary cycle.
