AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Environmental Permitting Consultant to join our Permitting and Process Safety team in the UK. You will play a key role in supporting the growth and continued success of the UK Environmental Permitting business, covering all aspects of regulatory compliance associated with the Environmental Permitting Regulations in England and Wales, or their equivalents in other countries e.g. Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC) in Scotland and Northern Ireland and Industrial Emissions Licencing in Ireland.
- Client and Regulator Engagement;
- Regulatory and Legislation interpretation and guidance;
- Preparation of Technical Supporting Documentation;
- Air Quality, Water Quality, Noise, Vibration and Odour Impact Assessments;
- Demonstration of the Use of Best Available Techniques (BAT);
- Energy Efficiency Assessments;
- Site Condition Report (SCR) and intrusive site condition assessments;
- Climate Change Adaptation Risk Assessment;
- CHP Readiness Assessment;
- Environmental Risk Assessment;
- Preparation of Application forms and Electronic Submission;
- Support with Responses to Post-submission Information Requests from the Regulator to ‘Duly Made’ Status and through Permit Determination;
- Environmental Management System development and implementation;
- Support with Permit management and compliance throughout the Permit lifetime;
- Preparation of improvement condition responses;
- Environmental incident reporting and investigation;
- Permit variations;
- Permit Surrenders etc.

Job Duties
**Teamwork**
- Play an active role in contributing to the success of the AECOM business.
- Work in partnership with other members of the Environmental Permitting team and other Environmental teams (e.g. soil and groundwater, noise, ecology etc.), successfully winning and delivering the project work.
- Liaise and work effectively with clients and other business functions within AECOM.

**Business Development**
- Support the Environmental Permitting Team with the development and growth of the business and undertake client and site visits for pursuits.
- Support the Environmental Permitting Team in the preparation of proposals, job costing, assisting with the entry of prospects and opportunities into business management software.
- Develop and maintain Environmental Permitting marketing materials and CV’s assisted by colleagues.

**Project Delivery**:

- The role will require the delivery of Environmental Permitting services (in delivering the regulatory requirements of the Environmental Permitting Regulations in England and Wales, or their equivalents in other countries e.g. PPC in Scotland) across a number of industry sectors covered by the environmental business line, i.e. Oil & Gas, Organic and Inorganic Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Power, Non-Ferrous Metals, Food and Drink, Paper and Pulp etc.
- Work alongside other AECOM technical teams e.g. Process Safety, Air Quality and Soil & Groundwater colleagues to deliver environmental risk and impact assessments in support of Environmental Permitting and COMAH projects e.g.:
H1 assessments,
Soil and Groundwater Risk Assessments,
MATTE assessments (consistent with the Chemicals and Downstream Oil Industries (CDOIF) methodology),
Fire water risk assessments.
- Build professional relationships with clients / target representatives to gain trust and facilitate information exchange during project delivery.
- The ability to work as part of a wider project delivery team is essential.
- All project deliverables must be of a high technical and written standard and delivered in compliance with the AECOM project and quality management systems.
- There will be the expectation for working at client sites or other AECOM office locations as the workload requires.

**Qualifications**:
Minimum Requirements:

- A base first degree in an Engineering or Scientific Discipline.
- In addition to a strong track record in industrial environmental permitting, you’ll be an excellent team player with a proactive and positive attitude and be confident in liaising with colleagues, industrial clients and regulators. You will be able to
