Health Innovation Manchester is responsible for accelerating innovation into health and social care to improve the health and wellbeing of the citizens of Greater Manchester (GM). We do this by bringing together researchers, academics, clinicians, and industry to discover, develop and deploy innovations into the health and care system.
The Communications Team is responsible for promoting GM as the place to conduct world leading research and deploy innovations, as well as providing communications support to the rollout of projects in the localities of GM.
We are looking for a professional, organised and highly motivated person to join our team as Communications Lead for our digital projects portfolio including communications support to the Greater Manchester Care Record (GMCR).
It’s an exciting time for the GM health and care system as we develop Greater Manchester’s Digital Strategy for Health and Care. The Communications Lead will support the Digital Transformation Office in the rollout of the strategy and will be a key role in assisting the digital transformation of health and care services in Greater Manchester.
Raise the profile of Greater Manchester as a centre of digital excellence and health and care innovation on a local, regional, and national level.
Support the operational rollout of the digital health and care strategy including related digital health and care projects across GM including the GM Care Record.
Ensure local communities and key stakeholders are informed and engaged at key stages of the strategies progress and development using a combination of existing channels and networks, as well as more targeted and bespoke activities.
Ensure industry partners understand the value of working with GM to get their offerings into clinical use faster and how this can be done.

Reassure the public and key stakeholders that their personal information will be managed safely and securely, providing them with easy access to relevant information.

The Communications Lead will implement the communications and engagement to support the rollout of the Greater Manchester ICS Digital Transformation Strategy and associated digital health and care projects in Greater Manchester. This will include the continued expansion of the GM Care Record and the development of the GM Secure Data Environment for Research and Development.
It will require a high level of collaboration and engagement with a range of stakeholders at a national, GM and locality level. Establishing strong working relationships with health and care organisations across GM will be a top priority, as they are all at varying stages of digital maturity and will have different communications barriers to implementation in their communities.
The role will involve dealing with complex and sensitive topics, such as the handling of patient information within information governance standards and the use of data for research purposes.
Typical duties include proactive and reactive management of the media, stakeholder engagement and management, publishing reports related to the strategy, proactive communication campaigns, event management, managing social media and internal communications. They will also be responsible for planning, reporting and monitoring of communications activity.
