Our client is a highly respected, successful and world-renewed and leading institution in Cancer Research. As part of our client’s success and continued expansion, they are looking for a Scientific Officer 1, to join them in their hub in Cheshire.

**The Role**:
The role is to support the day-to-day running of the preclinical team and conduct research under supervision as directed by the Group Leader and Preclinical Pharmacology Team Leader. You will conduct in vivo preclinical studies in collaboration with academic and industrial drug developers.

After sufficient training, you will undertake the following responsibilities:

- The post holder will perform agreed scientific projects, report back with their results and help with the interpretation
- After appropriate training and obtain a Personal Licence and generate preclinical mouse models of cancer using experimental procedures described in the CBC Group Leader’s Project Licence covering pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic analyses of new anticancer drugs
- Undertake simple non-regulated and regulated procedures and techniques
- Make observations, keep accurate records and input data into computer programmes, as instructed
- Perform all duties will be in accordance with the Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986
- Assist in a range of administrative tasks and undertake laboratory housekeeping duties as required
- To produce data output as directed by a senior staff member

**Essential**:

- Relevant experience working in a laboratory setting
- Some experimental/technical skills and familiarity with basic laboratory work and procedures

**Desirable**:

- PIL A & B Home Office Licence*/ Training or knowledge of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986
- A general knowledge of cancer and or knowledge in the field of biological sciences
- Motivated and able to work to strict deadlines
- Ability to work well within a team framework as well as on individual projects
- Ability to identify problems and report them to the supervisor or other members of staff
- Excellent time keeping
