The mosaic of trees, hedgerows and woodlands in Herefordshire offer multiple benefits within both rural and urban contexts and their management is vital in addressing the climate and ecological emergency (declared by Herefordshire Council in December 2019). Acting as Tree Officer, you will be part of the Natural Environment team comprising; Ecology, Landscape, Trees and Public Open Space and will work closely with colleagues in the Development Management, Strategic Planning and Enforcement teams, as well as other environmental specialists. Your main duties will be:
- To provide arboricultural advice to the Development Management team and other internal and external customers working within appropriate timescales
- Manage Tree Preservation Orders, including serving, modifying, revoking, enforcing and monitor replacement planting.
- To review, interpret and advise on specialist arboricultural reports, guidance, planning policy and legislation
- Promoting best arboricultural practice across the county
- To work with other teams across the council to address the council’s Climate and Ecological Emergency; help implement the recent Hereforshire Tree, Hedgerow and Woodland Strategy and the developing Local Nature Recovery Strategy.
