Job overview

This post will be based in the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences (MCCN), Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (“the NCA”). MCCN serves a large population of over 3 million people and has a full complement of neurological subspecialties. There are around 45 full or part time neurologists serving the conurbation.

Main duties of the job

This post is offered as part of the Clinical Research Fellow Programme at MCCN. This has been running for over a decade and has seen budding clinical academics complete PhDs in movement disorders, neuromuscular disease, metabolic disorders, and epilepsy.

You will work as part of a team on an MRC-funded research project investigating gait and motor control in health and disease. You will utilise EEG, MRI and in vivo brain recordings from clinical participants who have the novel Medtronic Percept Deep Brain Stimulator, which enables live streaming of local field potentials from the basal ganglia.

You will also be expected to contribute to general neurology provision at MCCN by doing two clinics per week. Involvement in neurology on-call rota will be discretionary.
