The Real Assets Finance group (RAF), comprised of Infrastructure Finance, Export & Asset Finance and Real Estate Finance, provides a full suite of financing solutions to corporates and financial sponsors in the sub sectors of Infrastructure (airports, roads, ports, rail, PPP, digital infra, core plus), Telecoms, Real Estate, Logistics, Support Services, Power & Utilities & Renewables (PURE) and Commodities (Metals & Mining, selected Oil & Gas). The team provides a central point for clients to access product agnostic advice on financing, capital structure and structured debt capital markets, as well as execution of infrastructure, project and export finance lending mandates. RAF consists of over 185 employees located in 15 countries with key hubs in London, Hong Kong, New York and Dubai. Each hub is supported by a pool of Analysts and Associates who work across all areas of the group; the London pool features approximately 15 bankers.

RAF is seeking an Associate, based in London, with experience in project and export finance, primarily in European infrastructure & PURE transactions.

The Associate would support the origination and execution of project and export financing transactions for HSBC’s energy and infrastructure client base, with a focus on renewable energy and energy transition sub-sectors (including wind, solar, hydrogen, carbon capture, energy storage, electrification of transport, sustainable aviation fuel, transition minerals).

**Responsibilities**:

- Support the execution of European renewable energy and energy transition financing transactions (greenfield and brownfield, project finance and corporate structure export finance)
- Create marketing materials: Including pitch books, information memorandums / teaser documents and responses to requests for proposals
- Financial modelling and analysis: Development of financial models to assess potential transactions, perform analysis and present to clients and credit
- Review financing legal documents with internal & external counsels, export credit agencies and clients
- Review and assess project level due diligence including relevant technical, environmental, legal and market studies
- Support credit assessment on transactions and support HSBC internal business and credit approval processes, including preparing loan return analyses and credit memos
- Collaborate effectively across multi-functional teams to deliver HSBC universal banking product range to clients
- Conduct industry and company-specific research and share market trends, knowledge and ideas with the team
- Supervise analysts in the team, to ensure their ongoing development

Requirements
- Experience across European infrastructure & PURE financing; direct experience in energy transition sectors is an advantage
- Strong understanding of credit analysis, risk management & corporate finance principles in the infrastructure & PURE sectors
- Experience & general knowledge around export credit agency requirements and their respective product offering
- Prior debt advisory experience would be an asset
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with a proficiency in financial modelling including operational model, accounting, debt facilities, credit metrics and valuation analysis. VBA or other programming experience preferred
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with an ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
