Haddington Care Home is looking to appoint a Cook (30-hours per week)
Situated on the banks of the River Tyne in the Royal Burgh of Haddington, a small popular market town in East Lothian, Haddington Care Home offers exceptional levels of nursing, residential and dementia care. Purpose-built in 2018 and spread across three floors, Haddington has all of the home comforts you would expect from a luxury facility, with a real attention to detail when it comes to meeting each resident’s individual needs.
As Cook, you will work alongside the Head Chef to deliver a high quality of food to our residents and ensure the kitchen operates in a timely manner.
Cook Contract
£11.50 per hour
30 hours per week

6.4 weeks annual leave (Based on a full-time contract)

Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
Required
- City & Guilds 706 - 1 & 2, or equivalent qualification (achieved or working towards)
- Team player.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative
Desired
- Experience of food preparation for the relevant Service User group.
- Experience working in a care environment would be advantageous but not a deal-breaker.
- Main Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and serve hot and cold meals, as and when required.
- Provide support to junior kitchen employees with various tasks
- Conduct Basic Food Hygiene training for all care staff involved in handling and delivery of food.
- Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
- Maintain accurate records of food supplies, and freezer/fridge temperatures.
- Ensure stock rotation.
- Assist in the ordering of stocks and checking of deliveries
- Ensure statutory Health & Safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas.
- Ensure all crockery and equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately
