West Yorkshire Police is seeking to recruit Control Operators to join its Regional Scientific Support Services (RSSS).

The role offers a starting salary of £23,100.00, plus 20% shift allowance and 13.45% weekend enhancement as applicable. This takes the salary to £30,826.95 at initial appointment, with progression to a top of scale pay rate of £33,833.57, including enhancements.

You will join a team of Control Operators where your teamwork skills will be paramount in ensuring the efficient and safe deployment of Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) and other RSSS resources by receiving, recording, triaging, and processing information regarding requests for specialist crime scene support.

Successful applicants will require a working knowledge of computer systems and databases, such as Microsoft Office, as well as a good command of English, both written and verbal.

You will be expected to work a 24 hour, 7-day rotating shift pattern and will occasionally work from various locations across West Yorkshire as reasonably required.

We will enable you to give the best service possible by developing your forensic knowledge through spending time with Crime Scene Investigators, attending forensic awareness training days and visiting expert scientific service departments within RSSS.

The Sir Alec Jefferies Building has on-site parking facilities and easy access to the M1 motorway and Wakefield City Centre. The facilities are state of the art, boasting in-house specialist laboratories and several expert scientific service departments.
