**About the role**

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills to join our team. This exciting role is part of the Devon & Torbay Dementia Advisor Service which provides information and support to people with dementia, their carers and wider family or friends.

As a Dementia Adviser, you will have the rewarding opportunity to provide information support and guidance to people living with dementia and their carers; helping them to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and put them in more control of their lives. We promote a person-centred service so that our support is unique to each individual, based upon their own aspirations and needs.

**About you**

You will have:

- The ability to assess and evaluate client need which is essential along with good organisational and time management skills to manage a caseload effectively.
- Experience of record keeping, and report writing.
- Passion to support people to maintain their independence improving their sense of well-being, putting them in more control of their lives and the understanding of the needs of people affected by dementia.
- An understanding of the need for client confidentially.
- Great communication skills, adapting your approach to ensure understanding at all levels.
- Networking and influencing skills and the ability to manage several tasks at once and keep yourself motivated to perform under pressure.
- Good IT skills and experience working with databases.
- Ability to travel independently across South Devon.
- Experience of face-to-face, telephone and virtual technology service delivery.
- A broad understanding of statutory and voluntary services.
- Experience of working with and role managing volunteers is desirable.

This is a great opportunity to join our team providing personalised support to people diagnosed with dementia and their carers and to promote our amazing service and build relationships with a range of health and social care professionals, and the Voluntary and Private sector.

The post will involve working in people’s homes and in a range of community settings; therefore, a DBS disclosure will be required.
