Could we help you to enjoy pharmacy again?_** **Job Summary** As a Dispenser in our thriving and innovative independent pharmacy in the city centre of York, you will work as part of our friendly and busy team to offer a great and caring service to our customers and community. We choose to utilise the latest technologies and have more staff than most pharmacies in order to provide the best customer experience and reduce the stress and pressure despite our high activity levels. Alongside your dispensing role, you will have the opportunity to help the team to increase our existing offering of NHS and private services and train for additional roles if that is something that you would like. You will be supported by our team of regular clinicians including pharmacists, nurses, and more. We also have a team of wonderful regular locum pharmacists for when we need any pharmacist cover and so use of ad hoc locum pharmacists who do not know our business is extremely rare, even in these times of pharmacist shortages. You will maintain and improve our high level of care for our customers. You will also have the opportunity to undertake additional training if you choose to do so including: dispenser checker; technician NVQ3 training; service specific training which could be one of our ideas, or one of your own We are a 100hr city centre pharmacy and our team share the range of hours although preferences can often be accommodated. Shift patterns will be regular and known in advance and there may be the opportunity to work full time hours over 4 days to enable more days off and a better work life balance. Part time applicants are also very welcome. You will be joining an award-winning pharmacy team with a strong ethos of collaboration and innovation whilst keeping our customers and our team at the heart of all our activities. **Responsibilities and Duties** Duties include (but are not limited to): - Work within procedures to dispense medications - Liaise with doctors and other healthcare professionals to highlight and resolve any issues with medications or to raise concerns about customers (supported by the Safeguarding Lead) - Advise the public on medicines, side-effects of medicines and the treatment of minor ailments as required and within own competence - Provide information on specialist health care issues, such as vaccinations, blood pressure, smoking cessation, cholesterol monitoring, diabetes screening and much more within own level of competence - Handing out of medication, including the supervised consumption of medications prescribed for the purposes of treating addiction - Work within procedures and alongside others with respect to pharmacy finances and budgets - Contribute to the ordering and purchasing of pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies or drugs - Undertake funded training - Optional: Take the lead for/champion one (or more depending on skills/preference) specific area(s): retail; Healthy Living Pharmacy; antimicrobial stewardship; deliveries; controlled drugs; NHS services; private services; fire warden or other - maybe there was something that you're especially interested in? You will report to the Practice Manager, and be supported by a fantastic and growing management, administrative, clinical and pharmacy support teams. **Qualifications and Skills** - NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services - At least one year’s experience working as a dispenser is desirable but not essential as support will be given. This post is suitable for those who have just completed an apprenticeship in Pharmacy Services - Experience in the community pharmacy sector is desirable although not essential. - Great organisational skills - Exceptional customer service skills - Be able to identify and solve problems - Ability to work under pressure - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Great attention to detail **Salary and Benefits** Salary will be dependent upon skills and experience and will be reviewed regularly. The salary being offered for this role is: £10.00 - £11.00/hr There may be some flexibility in hours and, by working as part of a team across a range of hours, shift swaps are also often possible. You will have the support and assurance of working as part of a regular team dispensers and pharmacists as well as a dedicated administrative assistant to field calls/queries throughout our busiest hours.
