- Job description- We’re investing £5.2billion between now and 2027 that will reduce flood risk to 336,000 properties across the UK. It’s an exciting time and we need your help to ensure we’re prepared for any future flooding and coastal change.
We are looking for great people to join us as Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Team Members. You will help to ensure that flood risk is effectively managed to protect communities at risk of flooding. You will engage with our customers and partners to provide great customer service and to ensure existing and future flood risks are well understood. You will play a key role in the smooth running of the team.
Reporting to the Partnerships & Strategic Overview Team Leader, you will fulfil a multi-purpose role, working in one of three teams that will draw upon a range of transferrable and specialist skills. Working closely with other teams and organisations, you can expect to be involved in any of the following:

- support our project delivery leads who develop and deliver our capital programme
- support engagement activities with stakeholders
- involved in development planning and permitting advising on flood risk through planning consultations
- providing flood risk data to our customers
- improving the way our data is stored
- develop flood risk mapping skills to support the creation of new data.

As responding to incidents is a central part of what we do, you will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
- The team- Partnerships & Strategic Overview support the whole lifecycle of our flood and coastal risk management assets. We use a wide range of skills to help us plan for the future. They include the analysis of data to inform future investment plans, engagement with communities and professional partners and developing strategic approaches to future flood risk management. We work in partnership with communities and other organisations to better protect people and property from future flood risk.
- Experience/skills required- Through experience to date you will ideally be able to demonstrate some of the following:

- An understanding of or interest in river processes, hydrology and the impact of flooding
- Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
- Delivery of work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information
- Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team to make decisions and achieve planned outcomes
- Good organisational skills

A proven ability to communicate with a diverse range of people is a must.
