Technician - Materials & Testing Lab

The Aerospace & Defence Customer Technical Development (A&D CTD) team is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its Wrexham Material & Testing Lab.
The M&T Lab has a key support role in delivering product test data for Aero & Non-Aero customer qualifications, product re-sites, product development, and problem investigation & resolution activities.

**Job Overview and Responsibilities**
- Support lab Risk Assessments (Task & Equipment based), writing and management of lab procedures, involvement in Continuous Improvement projects & 5S initiatives.
- Additionally - work on a variety of other tasks which may include:
- Machine a variety of test coupons from panels in preparation for mechanical testing. Undertake related activities including specimen measurement, tab bonding & strain gauging.
- Comply with Solvay HSE standards, procedures and 5S guidelines
- Demonstrate and promote strong safety culture adherence.
- Assure all data is entered accurately in company documentation and systems.
- Be able to work alone, and as part of a team.
- Be adaptable to changing work practices, demands and priorities.
- Demonstrate high attention to detail.
- Be willing to learn new skills and maintain on-going personal development.
- Excellent knowledge of composite ply cutting, laminating, fabrication & machining processes.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate good time management, self-prioritisation and motivation.
- Experience of working in a team environment.

**Preferred**:

- Experience in composite lamination and fabrication processes (Autoclave/RTM/VBO).
- Experience in paste and/or film adhesive test panel fabrication.
- Experience operating cutting & machining equipment such as Ultrasonic Cutter, CNC grinder, Vertical Mill Centre, Water Jet Cutter & Composite Plate Saw.

**Language and Education Skills**
Must have:

- Must possess the ability to read and write in English; and comprehend technical documents.
- Two or more years working at an industrial/technology company.
