**Reports to**:Head of Retail

**Hours**:6.5 hour contract**, **Sundays only (9.45-4.15), with the potential to cover staff holidays and sickness

**Salary**:Minimum wage, dependant on age

**Location**:Donation Centre Beaumond Cross, Robin Hood Walk, Newark

**Beaumond House**

**Role Purpose**

The purpose of the role is to assist with adequate and appropriate stock and systems are in place in order to maximise shop sales and profits and to promote the work of Beaumond House Care at all times.

This will be done in a manner which reflects the ethos of Beaumond House Hospice Care and promotes good public relations for the Hospice at all times.

**Main Duties**

**To assist and support the Shop Manager with**:
**Legal Compliance & Security**
- To ensure that the shop premises comply with Health and Safety legislation for staff and customers
- To ensure that cash and valuable items are kept secure
- To ensure the shop is safe and secure outside opening hours

**Business Management**
- To manage the shop in a profitable and business-like manner
- To maximise sales of donated goods
- To maintain a high standard of visual merchandising in the windows and inside the shop
- To ensure stock is appropriate to the business and priced accordingly
- To maintain a rigorous process of stock rotation
- To keep the sorting and storage areas clean and tidy and the stock in good order

**Staffing**
- To assist with training and supporting volunteers in their roles
- To assist in the communication of Beaumond House matters to volunteers and vice versa

**Administration**
- To keep all paperwork neat, tidy, and orderly
- To control all shop expenses to a reasonable level
- To complete monthly timesheets
- To ensure Retail Gift Aid is administered and promoted effectively.

**General Duties**
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively with your Beaumond House colleagues
- Abide by the Health and Safety at Work Act, and Trading Standards Authority
- Work within Beaumond House policies and procedures
- Participate in and contribute to team meetings
- Always behave in a professional manner, reflecting and maintaining Beaumond House values
- Promote fundraising activities, including events and raffles
- Be flexible within the broad remit of the post

**Skills, Experience and Attributes Required**
- A team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to forge and maintain strong working relationships.
- The ability to support, enable and engage with an outstanding team of volunteers
- A proven track record of delivering outstanding customer service ideally within a retail environment.
- A creative and positive attitude with the ability to turn challenges into opportunities.
- A willingness to trial new ideas and initiatives
- Strong attention to detail, planning and organisational skills.
- A good understanding of pricing and marketing with the ability to make sound commercial decisions
- The ability to display a range of donated goods effectively to maximise retail income
- Ability to work under pressure in a physically demanding role.
- A willingness to work flexibly.
