I am working with a development business who are looking to appoint a Head of Construction / Head of Operations to deliver residential led developments within the M25 and Central London.

Typically, as a business they deliver projects for both Housing Associations and Local Authorities and range from £30m through to £75m in value.

Job Summary

Reporting to both the Operations Director and Managing Director, you will provide leadership to ensure the construction activities are conducted in compliance with the company health, safety and environmental policies.

Responsible for upholding and maintaining progress, benchmarking quality and managing costs whilst creating a supportive and collaborative environment, meeting client expectations and enhancing the reputation of the business.

Accountabilities
- Lead the Construction Delivery and teams including 7 Contracts Managers, 9 Project Managers and Site Managers.
- Manage and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, e.g. client, design team, supply chain, local authorities/communities & project team.
- Ensure site logistics and welfare arrangements are established and maintained in a safe, practical, and effective manner.
- Hold and attend senior management meetings.
- Hold and attend progress meeting with project & supply chain teams.
- Regularly walk the construction sites to review Health & Safety compliance, progress, and quality of installation.
- Ensure appropriate and talented resources are available by recruiting both externally & internally
- Development of employees.
- Responsible for communicating lessons learned to the projects & wider business.

Essential:

- Expert knowledge of construction industry
- Qualified to a minimum of HNC Level or equivalent
- Strategic thinking and visionary
- Develop and maintain relationships with trust and confidence
- Understanding of programme duration and sequencing of works of relevant aspects of construction
- Experienced with and capable of being part of a bid team and undertaking pre-construction planning

Desirable
- Member of the Chartered Institute of Building.

On offer is a basic salary of between £120,000 - £145,000 per annum depending on experience plus extensive package including bonus, car allowance, 25 days annual leave, pension, healthcare and usual company benefits.
