**The Detail**

Big Help Project are looking for a person with a positive and proactive approach to help our food team deliver an effective and efficient service. Building on the foundations already laid within our Foodbanks, Food Clubs, and with our Community Food Partnerships.
- Support the food team with any appropriate administration including filing, setting up and recording registers.
- Be a key member of the food team by taking phone calls, opening mail etc.
- Occasionally cover for staff in food distribution sessions.
- Help co-ordinate the distribution of food at existing Big Help Food Clubs, Foodbanks and Community Food Partnerships across the Liverpool City Region. This will involve working closely with Food Club Co-ordinators, staff and volunteers to ensure that the right amount of food is at the right place at the right time, and that the correct procedures are followed in the distribution of that food, including where appropriate to signpost clients to other agencies.
- Work with Food Team Leader with the support of the link person(s) at distribution points. This will involve visiting the main distribution points and offering help as appropriate to the link person and volunteers.
- Work with the Food team Leader to ensure that there is up to date signposting information at every distribution point.
- Support our team of Warehouse Worker/Drivers in their role.
- To be comfortable with occasional manual handling lifting.
- This position will be line managed by the Food Operations Manager on a day to day basis and for one to one supervision.
- Complete food club, Foodbank and Food Partnership orders.
- Be the lead person responsible for all food related volunteers
- Work with staff and volunteers to ensure the smooth running of Food Clubs, Foodbanks and Food partnerships
- Ensure all records and documentation are kept accurately and are up to date such as vehicle check logs, foodbank key figures, food club attendance figures etc.
- Work as a part of the Big Help team and support other staff and volunteers in their service delivery.
- Participate in any appropriate training opportunities and undertake any other duties that may from time to be time be required by The Big Help Project.

**Person specification**
- An ordered approach to work and willingness to follow and develop agreed procedures
- Ability to work by yourself and as part of a team; the ability to work under pressure, to manage, organise and prioritise workloads.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide cross-section of people including local people facing issues of poverty.
- Communicating in a professional manner
- Working with individuals facing poverty and / or with dysfunctional and chaotic lifestyles.
- Comfortable with the aims of the Big Help group.
- GCSE in Maths & English (grade C or above)
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, explorer and Outlook
- Willing to work the occasional evening and weekend.
- Full UK Driving license and the use of own car

**Experience**
- 1 Year office experience

This position will be accountable to the Food Operations Manager.

Wages: Initially from £18,018.00 going up to £20,020.00 - Depending on experience

Hours: 35 hrs per week, including the occasional evening and Saturday.

Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays pro rata and benefits

Period of employment: Permanent contract (3 months probationary period)
