**About us**
Starfish Kids Club provides a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children aged 4-11. We are looking for an enthusiastic and responsible Group Coordinator to oversee our playworkers and ensure a high-quality experience for both children and staff. We work hard to offer a range of activities that children enjoy, including lots of arts and crafts, free play and sports.
Skills, Essential and Desirable qualifications:
- A sound working knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
- Relevant childcare qualifications (or a willingness to obtain them).
- Experience working with children aged 4-11 years, preferably in a play or afterschool setting.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation and risk assessments.
- A Paediatric First Aid certification and safeguarding training (DSL or otherwise).
- Ability to manage records, including timesheets and registers, accurately.
- Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework is essential.
**Job Description**:
- To care for children aged 4 to 11 years in one of our Hove settings.
- To be responsible for and supervise all play-workers either employed, volunteers, agency staff or casual staff at Starfish Kids Club (‘the Club’)
- To draw up work plans, rotas and monitor hours.
- To conduct termly staff appraisals with the setting’s Playworkers.
- To complete monthly time-sheets of staff attendance and keep Management informed of changes.
- To compile agenda items for team meetings and attend regular staff team meetings.
- To ensure that the Club operates within work plans, including regular reviews of its operation and reporting this information to Management.
- To deal with any issues raised by staff, parents/carers, children and the Committee.
- To take overall responsibility for the children, including their well-being, health and safety
- To inform staff, parents/carers and children of all conditions and changes affecting use or participation in activities
- To identify staff training needs and to ensure staff and the Committee are informed about courses.
- Implementation of the Clubs policies and procedures.
- To carry out risk assessments both fire and health and safety in accordance with current legislation.
- To ensure that the club is a healthy, safe and enjoyable environment for adults and all children.
- To ensure that equipment and materials are maintained in accordance with current legislation and health and safety provisions and ensure they reflect equality issues
- To ensure that any maintenance issues relating to the premises are referred to the appropriate party, and if authorised to carry out necessary remedial work
- To ensure that the building is left in a good state at the end of each session, locked and alarmed as necessary
- To be responsible for the accident book and incident forms.
- To attend Committee meetings as required.
- To oversee EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) management.
- To be responsible for registers, record keeping, liaising with Management on a weekly basis.
- To handle and account for petty cash, relating to food, stamps, stationary and other such expenditure with authorisation.

Pay: £16.74 per hour
