We at Tudor Employment are thrilled to be recruiting for a Payroll Supervisor on behalf of our prestigious client based in Walsall.

The client is one of the nation’s largest discount retailers, with 850 stores across the UK and 16,000 staff thus, the payroll function is one of the most important. The role will entail the accurate and timely processing of two different pay runs across the UK and Ireland. You will lead a small team to ensure excellent service.

Previous high-volume payroll experience is a necessity for the role.

Are you the right person for this role? Desirably, the Payroll Supervisor will:

- Have experience managing a small team
- Be very confident with payroll administration, demonstrating two years or more payroll experience
- Have an advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel including VLOOKUPS
- Be familiar with Kronos
- Have the ability to work under pressure, in accordance with strict deadlines

What will I be doing? Day to day duties of the Payroll Manager role are:

- Leading and managing a team of payroll clerks
- Work with the payroll team to process the payroll for around 16,000 colleagues, in a very busy, high-volume environment
- Supporting different payroll processes for 4 weekly pay and monthly pay
- Supporting a smaller weekly payroll in distribution facility
- Support the team in the development and implementation of all payroll processes and routines
- Oversee and check key areas of the payroll activity, to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Prepare and input data into the payroll system, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of information and adherence to deadlines
- The production and distribution of reporting within the department
- Answer colleague queries effectively and efficiently, being a point of escalation for the team if required, and building and improving the profile of the payroll team
- Provide excellent customer service to a wide range of customers
- Identify areas for improvements that will drive cost and/or time savings
- Support key business projects to provide guidance on payroll processes

What are the hours of work?

The Payroll Supervisor would be expected to work full-time, Monday to Friday. A hybrid working model is in place which can offer one/two days working from home per week.

What is the rate of pay?

The Payroll Supervisor will be paid between £36,000-£39,000 per annum dependant on experience. This is to be negotiated at interview.
