**About us**:
The London Centre for Nanotechnology is an interdisciplinary enterprise between University College London (UCL), King’s College London and Imperial College London. At UCL, the LCN functions as a research department of about 200 people (staff and PhD students) in the MAPS Faculty. It is based in its own, purpose-built, 8-story building in Gordon Street that was opened in 2006. In bringing together world-class infrastructure and leading nanotechnology research activities, the LCN aims to attain the critical mass to compete with the best facilities abroad.
The LCN has strong relationships with the broader nanotechnology and commercial communities, and is involved in major collaborations. As the world’s only such facility to be located in the heart of a metropolis, the LCN has superb access to corporate, investment and industrial partners. It is at the forefront of training in nanotechnology and has a strong media presence aimed at educating the public and bringing transparency to this emerging science
**About the role**:
This role provides proactive administrative support across the LCN, acting as the first point of contact for a wide range of queries and offering dedicated assistance to the Head of Department and Department Manager. Responsibilities include diary and travel management, servicing departmental committees, maintaining departmental data and records, and ensuring effective office systems and resources. The postholder will support facilities and safety processes, including onboarding, training compliance, and emergency responsibilities.
The role also plays a key part in supporting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion by assisting with EDI committees, initiatives, and communications. Event coordination is a major component, involving the organisation of seminars, conferences, and public engagement activities, managing logistics, and publicity. The postholder will oversee website updates, contribute to social media strategy, and support internal and external communications in line with the Centre’s outreach goals.
The role requires initiative, strong communication and organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding confidentiality and GDPR standards. The postholder will contribute to the delivery of LCN activities and collaborate closely with colleagues across the department, faculty, and wider UCL.
This is an open ended contract and is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 60% on site.
This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role
