Based near Edinburgh, **Broadex Technologies, UK **focuses on the development, production and sale of high-end optical communication network components. The company is dedicated to supplying passive optical components such as Planar Light Circuit (PLC) silica waveguide chips, as well as active optical components such as transceivers, in high volume to the telecommunications market. Broadex’ core competencies are in the design, manufacturing, packaging and optical testing of a wide range of high technology devices for use in telecom and datacom networks.

To support our continued growth, we are recruiting for a **Buyer**. In this role, you will manage the end to end buying process, optimizing prices, contracts and delivery times as well as administering quotes, negotiating contracts, and placing order.

Key Responsibilities:

- Material analysis based on production plan
- Liaise with production on material availability
- Request quotations for goods and services
- Create purchase orders and ensure orders are placed in a timely manner
- Issuing RFQ’s for new purchase requirements
- Negotiate discounts, cost reductions and improved delivery times with suppliers
- Liaise with supplier and courier/freight forwarder regarding the shipping of materials
- Report on monthly on time delivery
- Monitor & maintain stock & inventory control
- Proactive identification of supply risk
- Maintenance of key parameters, such as pricing, lead times, MOQ’s
- Audit compliance
- Pro-actively manage and deliver against KPI’s
- Ad hoc procurement projects
- Maintain and develop supplier relationships with existing suppliers and source new suppliers for future products
- Form a close relationship with colleagues in China to create an efficient and effective team

Qualifications and Experience
- Experience of working to a similar level within a manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong negotiation skills
- Proven track record of cost reduction and supplier performance improvement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for communicating with local and international suppliers
- Capable of working both on own initiative and within a team environment to strict deadlines
