Yard Supervisor

**Myers Building & Timber Supplies **have an opportunity for an experienced **Yard Supervisor **to join our team on a full time, permanent basis.

**Myers Building & Timber Supplies** has 15 branches throughout Yorkshire and is part of the family-owned Myers Group. We are looking to recruit a motivated individual with a positive attitude to join our committed and experienced team supplying a whole range of building materials including kitchens and bathrooms. **Duties and Responsibilities**

The following criteria is not listed in any order of importance as all areas identified require the individual to undertake the tasks with equal diligence and meet the desired and appropriate performance level.
- Contribute to a proactive culture of H&S, ensuring everyone in the team complies with the Company HSE policies and procedures.
- Plan, develop, undertake, and supervise yard duties in order to meet the customer and business needs. Delegate tasks to Yard Operatives as appropriate.
- Manage stock in the yard
- Ensure products are appropriately stored to maintain their quality and minimise wastage/losses
- Internal movement and IBTs o Stock cleanses o Reconciliation of incoming and outgoing materials
- Daily stock counting, on rotation, so that all bin locations are counted over a 3month period. Investigate and address any variances
- All paperwork completed accurately and in full.
- Manage safe and efficient yard operations to ensure a consistent high standard of housekeeping, appearance, safety, and security:

- Unloading, loading and despatch.
- Equipment and plant inspections.
- Housekeeping.
- Identify and act on opportunities for increasing sales, reducing costs, and increasing efficiency, directing yard staff to do the same.
- Communicate efficiently with all members of the team providing them with clear instructions and feedback on scheduling, deadlines, time scales and quality of work.
- Liaise with the Branch Manager, keeping them informed on all matters that may impact the branch and agree current and/or future training needs for you and the team.
- Liaise proactively with customers on a day-to-day basis and undertake relevant yard duties in order to fulfil customers’ needs, ensuring all yard staff do the same.
- Seek and continuously develop product knowledge.
- Any other reasonable duties which may be required by the Company from time to time, as instructed by or under the direction of your line manager.

- Must be self-driven, genuine with a positive attitude and clear focus.
- Must be sufficiently mobile and flexible to work beyond the call of duty to achieve results.
- Experienced Supervisor with an understanding of the builder’s merchants and customer requirements.
- Sound knowledge of products and materials.
- Ability of operate mobile plant as required.
- Have a suitable health and fitness level to conduct work appropriately.
- Strong supervisory skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
