Our public sector client, based in York is looking to provide cover on an interim basis for the Head of Building Services, to undertake a pivotal role leading the delivery of an effective, and efficient building services department for properties owned byour client and other third party clients.

We’re looking for someone who has Building Services/Social Housing experience, for up to 6 months, someone that relishes a challenge and is capable of making things happen Someone with exposure and experience as a senior level with strong communicationskills who can inspire and lead multifaceted teams (in excess of 100 people) and who has a proven track record of strategically supporting the achievement of defined measures, whilst maintaining an emphasis on employee engagement.

An immediate start for this role would be ideal.

**Key areas of responsibility include**:

- Contribute and lead on the development of new policies and reviewing of current policies relating to repairs and maintenance. This will include, managing, developing and assessing annual repairs and maintenance budgets for both responsive repairs/gas maintenanceas well as capital improvement works.
- Steer the whole department towards success from a strategic viewpoint, identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies, including devising and implementing business improvement plans, whilst also providing confident and clear leadership and directionfor the Building Service delivery teams.
- To lead the development and oversight of the department’s H&S inspection and compliance regime, whilst maintaining a seamless responsive repairs service and capital works service, that is of high quality and demonstrates value for money.
- Responsible for the housing repair and maintenance service, this role will key in all service related decisions, having to find innovative solutions to problems as they arise, making sure that appropriate procedures are followed and working with staff toreduce potentially difficult situations, in conjunction with reviewing the procedures and processes within all Building Services teams and assess these against changes within regulations or guidelines either nationally or locally.

**What we need from you**:

- Extensive experience of managing a repairs and maintenance service within the social housing sector.
- Strong management experience, including directly employed technical staff alongside external contracts and service providers.
- Detailed understanding of contract management as it relates to the building industry and have significant experience in managing responsive, cyclical and major capital programmes
- Extensive senior-level experience in directing and delivering customer service functions, particularly in a Repairs and Maintenance setting, including leading service and strategy design and implementation.
- A comprehensive understanding of Health & Safety, compliance and technical obligations within the asset management environment.
- Significant experience of managing and motivating teams to deliver targets and outcomes.
