**JOB DESCRIPTION**
Job Title: Therapist
Responsible to: Solace Clinical Director
Based at: Leeds office
Holidays: 36 days per year including bank holidays (37 days with the extra bank holiday this year)
**Salary**: £35,411 FTE.
Hours: negotiable between a minimum of 3 days up to full time.
**Main Purposes of the Post**
1. To provide specialist support for adult refugees and asylum seekers who are affected by trauma / torture / sexual violence. This will include delivery of individual therapy and also group support. The role may involve providing support / training / consultancy for organisations and will include both face to face and online therapy.
2. To contribute to the administration, development and evaluation of the service which will include amongst other things; maintaining appropriate records on the Solace client database, reporting on client outcomes and satisfaction, and providing reports as required.
3. To work collaboratively with other organisations, both statutory and voluntary sector, and to provide appropriate signposting to enable clients to access suitable services.
4. In conjunction with the office team, arrange for interpreters to be present during the client appointments and as required to facilitate communication with the client, and where required arrange appropriate premises to meet clients.
**Professional Responsibilities.**
1. Receive referrals to the service, and arrange assessments with clients who meet the service criteria.
2. Assess potential users of the service, including the assessment of any risk to themselves and others
3. To adhere to Solace’s and your professional body’s codes of ethics (UKCP,
BACP, AFT)
4. Make appropriate referrals to other services where required.
5. To develop good working relationships with other organisations in order to better meet the needs of referrers and clients.
6. Writing clinical letters and mental health reports on behalf of Solace clients in collaboration with other organisations and professionals such as solicitors or caseworkers.
7. To carry a caseload of clients, a high proportion of whom will include those unable to access therapy in English.
8. To liaise with the Solace Clinical Director concerning the clinical management of the work.
9. To participate in clinical supervision provided by Solace (individual and group) on a monthly basis
10. To adhere to Solace’s and your professional body’s codes of ethics (UKCP,
BACP, BCP).
11. To comply with Solace’s policies and procedures.
12. Any other duties as may be reasonably requested
**Management Responsibilities**
1. To ensure all records are kept up to date on the Solace database and that regular outcome measures are used, recorded and reported on as required.
2. Responsible for regular internal and external reports on client activities and outcomes,
3. To maintain appropriate clinical records, and ensure that hard copies and electronic data is stored securely.
4. To attend where requested, relevant local meetings with other organisations in order to promote and explain the service, and generally to assist communication between organisations supporting Refugees and Asylum
Seekers.
**- PERSON SPECIFICATION**
**Qualifications**
**Essential** **Desirable**
A formal accredited training in counselling or psychotherapy (BACP, UKCP or BCP registered).
Minimum of Diploma-level in Counselling or equivalent.
Qualification in counselling supervision or equivalent
(e.g. post-graduate Certificate in Counselling
Supervision.
Training in working with trauma, for example EMDR
**Experience**
At least three years supervised clinical experience post qualification, including a minimum of 200 hours of client contact (individual or group)
Experience of working with asylum seekers and refugees or other minority ethnic groups with a culture different to your own, who have experienced trauma or violence
Experience of delivering therapy face to face, and online, using zoom or similar online platforms
Experience of personal therapy
Experience of working within and maintaining boundaries in a pressurised setting
Experience of working with interpreters in a counselling setting
Delivery of both individual therapy with refugees, and facilitating group work with people from diverse backgrounds
Experience of managing a clinical caseload: aware of importance of time keeping, data protection, maintaining correspondence, keeping confidentiality
Experience of working of systemic practice and working
with families
Experience of working remotely (ie a sole therapist in premises used by other organisations and clients)

Capacity to work with a broad range of emotions in the therapeutic relationship as well as the ability to tolerate confusion and think clearly under pressure.
