**Job summary**:
As Great Britain's regulator for the energy industry, Ofgem exists to ensure a safe, secure and sustainable energy supply to British households and businesses.

We are currently hiring a Climate Resilience Senior Advisor to join our team. In a time of vulnerability of the energy network systems with the increase of extreme weather and climate change, Ofgem understands the importance of embedding climate resilience into the energy sector. With this comes the exciting opportunity to lead and influence this important urgent work. Tasked with working closely across Ofgem including the senior leadership team, as well as with government, industry and academia to take forward key strategic priorities and workstreams.

This role brings with it the opportunity to develop relationships within a diverse network, to drive and deliver positive change within the energy sector and climate adaptation.

Experience analysing complex concepts and a strong understanding of climate resilience, or of the energy sector, with the ability to learn new areas quickly, will be vital for this role. We are looking for someone to bring an ability to deal with fast changing environments, in order to creatively problem solve as you face unforeseen challenges within the sector.

We are passionate about upskilling and offering opportunities to our teams for professional and personal development across the profession of Digital Delivery. Personal growth is key at Ofgem, and being self motivated and driven in your role can open opportunities for you.

If you are looking to develop your career by bringing real change and impact to our organisation and how we use Cloud based systems, then we want to hear from you.

Ofgem has a culture of inclusion that encourages, supports and celebrates the diverse voices and experiences of our colleagues. It fuels our innovation and helps ensure we can best represent the consumers and the communities we serve. Everyone is welcome - as an inclusive workplace, our employees are comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work.

**Job description**:
An exciting opportunity to join a new team in Ofgem to help build the energy system for the future - one that is resilient to climate change and extreme weather events.

Despite having the same legal standing as climate mitigation, climate adaptation is poorly understood and independent government advisors such as the Climate Change Committee and the National Infrastructure Commission identify that government and regulators are not doing enough and need to take urgent action to address climate risks.

Energy sector is no exception, with impacts such as Storm Arwen demonstrating the vulnerability of energy networks and system to extreme weather. These risks will increase over time as climate change will increase the severity and frequency of extreme weather, at the same time the transition to net zero will affect the vulnerability of the energy system to these changes. Delaying action further will lead to locking in costly impacts and risk delivery of net zero. Ofgem have many levers to drive forward the important task of embedding climate resilience into the energy sector and this role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and influence this important and urgent work.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Advise on delivery of strategic projects within the climate resilience programme to embed climate resilience into energy network/system, including drafting recommendations to the team and senior leadership and/or using energy sector expertise to maximise impact and relevance.
- Liaise and collaborate closely with other Ofgem teams and external stakeholders, especially those in government, industry and academia to ensure effective and timely delivery of projects and influence decisions or processes.
- Proactively help identify new and emerging areas and opportunities for action
- Facilitate communication and translation between different Ofgem teams and wider stakeholders to allow a two-way dialogue and mutual improvement in understanding of climate resilience and energy sector drivers, barriers and potential solutions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with a diverse network of contacts within energy sector and climate adaptation/resilience com
