Student Opportunities Coordinator

35 hours per week (flexibility required)

£23,315 per annum

Are you passionate about enhancing the student experience? Could you support the development of societies and recreational sport?

In this role, you will focus on coordinating and developing the provision of societies and activities on our Cambridge campus, working within the wider Student Opportunities team. We are recruiting for two vacancies on the following basis: 1 x full time, permanent position 1 x full time, 12 month fixed term contract position

What you will be doing
- Developing and enhancing the provision of societies and recreational sport, placing a particular focus on developing Course-Based Societies.
- Sourcing and coordinating additional training opportunities for volunteers where necessary.
- Supporting your societies in sourcing funding, running events and booking society trips.
- Booking facilities in line with student demand and within the agreed budget and through the appropriate channels. Assisting in the coordination and delivery of the Give it a Go (GIAG) scheme on your campus, managing and attending sessions as required.
- Actively contributing to the organisation of large-scale Union events with the aim to increase society and student participation, such as Freshers Fair.
- Leading on the recruitment and training of SU Heroes (student staff) for your campus and coordinate their involvement in activities such as Welcome and Move-ins.

What we’re looking for
- Experience of working with diverse groups of people
- Experience and understanding of customer service
- Knowledge and understanding of the current issues affecting students, students’ unions and the Higher Education sector.
- Knowledge and experience of safety management, including risk assessments

Skills that will help you
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral
- Ability to present in front of large groups
- Ability to develop professional relationships for the benefit of students and the Union

This role will be based at the Cambridge Campus.
