required to work at Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon for the elective Anaesthesia component of the job plan.

The distribution of workload and departmental planning requires a degree of flexibility from Consultant Anaesthetists. All of the predictable and unpredictable DCC work of this post is annualised and will consist of a flexible number of clinical sessions per week (planned sessions 4-8 for theatre/obstetrics) to an agreed annualised total. One all day fixed session may be agreed for the development of a subspecialty interest.

Each week will be finalised four weeks in advance and can incorporate an agreed fixed non-clinical day. The rest of the time will be spent on administration, continued development of anaesthetic services, attendance at planned departmental meetings, teaching and audit. The post-holder, along with the other Consultants, will be responsible for the supervision of trainees within the Department and the provision of emergency anaesthetic and obstetric services. The exact job plan will be agreed with
the post-holder on appointment. Further development of specialist interests will be supported through study leave. The Trust is currently reviewing services in line with the NHS seven day working initiative.
