You will lead our team’s work on governance of elements of the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA), supporting the Government’s work to implement the business travel aspects of the TCA. You can also expect to play a role in the team’s work for forthcoming trade negotiations with other countries.
We operate flexibly across the team and as new priorities emerge, so the job holder’s detailed responsibilities are likely to flex over time, depending on wider policy developments.

**Policy & Engagement Advisor - Services Frameworks Team**

The post holder will also support other exciting projects within the team, including a project to improve the UK’s online ‘licence finder’ platform on GOV.UK (an external tool used by over 160,000 users per year), and responsibility for elements of another piece of high-profile domestic legislation (the UK Internal Market Act 2020). This will require leading on engagement across Government and with the Devolved Administrations (Northern Irish, Scottish and Welsh Governments) to ensure that new policy complies with the legislation.

**Responsibilities**:

- Take a leading role in the future of EU/EFTA and UK business travel - e.g. proactively explaining and encouraging businesses to adapt to new trading relationships.
- Be responsible for drafting technically accurate, concise, and convincing documents and building and leveraging effective cross-Government relationships to develop policy.

**Policy & Engagement Advisor - Services Frameworks Team**

Lead work to shape how services are regulated across the UK economy, making the regulatory environment as effective, efficient and competitive as possible, to help make the UK the best place in the world to do business. In doing so you will:
- Contribute policy development and lead engagement on a review of cross-economy regulatory legislation (the Provision of Services Regulations 2009).
- Coordinate with colleagues to join up wider work, including ensuring domestic reforms support the Government’s ambitious trade negotiations.
- Engage with teams across Government on the implementation of the UK Internal Market Act 2020.
- Support work to update and improve the UK's 'licence finder' tool on the GOV.UK website to help businesses find the licensing information they need.

**Skills and Experience**

Knowledge of the EU, international trade and/or the legislative process would be desirable but not essential. More important is the way you approach your work. Successful applicants without previous trade experience will be encouraged to undertake training to develop trade knowledge, including the cross-Whitehall Trade Practitioner training.

Are you interested in domestic and international policy? D
