**Job description**:
We are seeking an experienced Safety Advisor with an Inquisitive mindset to join the team based at our Weapons Operating Centre (WOC).

The WOC is responsible for the delivery and in-service support of munitions and weapon systems used by the Armed Forces (including receipt, storage, issue and maintenance), as well as the provision of Test & Evaluation services for a wide range of military equipment by the Trials, Evaluation, Services & Targets (TEST) Team.

The role is to provide safety and environmental assurance of the Long-Term Partnering Agreement (LTPA) and Combined Aerial Target Service (CATS) delivery contracts managed by the team.

Covering legislation and regulation assurance, from a military and civilian perspective. The position will also include administration and development of the TEST Team Assurance Plan, providing audit and assurance activities, for all aspects that are overseen by statutory and internal regulatory bodies for safety and environmental legislative, and regulatory purposes.

Please note you will be expected to attend the stated site a minimum of once per week. The expectation will be higher during the initial training period, you will need to be on site 4-5 days per week. The role also requires travel to other DE&S sites UK wide monthly.

**Responsibilities**
- Conducting audits across a variety of differing capabilities (e.g. Occupational Safety Health and Environmental, aerodromes, weapons, ordnance, ranges, test facilities, estates, environment, maritime, trials and airworthiness) located around the UK.
- Managing team Occupational Safety Health and Environmental
- Researching and advising on applicable legislation and regulations.
- Assisting in monitoring Corrective Actions and trends of findings.
- Supports assurance activities to ensure due diligence.
- Monitoring non-compliances owned by the MoD and contractors to drive solutions.
- Ensure DE&S requirements are integrated and delivered.
- Manage enquiries and act as focal point on health and safety matters, providing advice to stakeholders.
- Investigating processes and recording associated risks/issues/opportunities.
- Managing the team’s Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person (SQEP) management system.
- Provide metrics and manage dashboard reporting.
- Developing and administering the TEST team’s Assurance Plan and assisting with the risk-based audit program.

**Person specification**:

- Minimum of a Level 3 (e.g. HNC) qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate) either to be held or gained during employment.
- Experience in dealing with and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in delivering and completing audits.
- Auditor experience (preferably ISO) to be held or gained during employment.
- Professional membership: Tech IOSH to be held or gained during employment.

It would also be great if you can demonstrate any of the following desirable criteria:

- Safety experience, such as implementing a safety & environmental management plan.
- Trials and evaluation experience.

In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competences and behaviours will be assessed at interview:
