The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year and has one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world.

The proton beam therapy department is located on the Withington site. Paediatric patients (under 16 years old) are referred nationally for proton therapy (approximately 130-150 per year) as well as us providing care for local photon radiotherapy patients from across Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

The paediatric outpatient department has a day unit with 4 bed spaces situated on the 1stfloor. You will be joining a small established Nursing team (7 paediatric registered nurses) and 3 advanced paediatric nurse practitioners who work closely with the treatment and pre-treatment radiographers, paediatric key workers, paediatric clinical oncologists and health play specialists. AHPs are accessed via Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH).

We work closely with RMCH as a shared care centre providing chemotherapy, A+E and inpatient admissions when required.

The department has a supportive and warm working culture where your contribution is valued and our combined resources, strategies and talented workforce enable us to deliver a high-quality service that is based on best practice and continually appraised.
