We are looking for enthusiastic and keen assistant psychologists to join the Acute and Rehabilitation Directorate in NELFT. The post is on a fixed term basis for eighteen months and will involve working on one of our acute in-patient wards.

We have 2 available assistant psychologist roles across in the following areas of our service
- Adult Female Acute Ward - 30 hours
- Split post between Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit & Older Adult Acute Ward - 37.5 hours

The post holder will join an evolving inpatient and acute service where provision of low intensity psychological interventions is a key priority. The post will suit someone who has a strong interest in working with multidisciplinary teams, working with people with significant mental health difficulties and working in an inpatient setting. The post would suit someone with a keen interest in low-intensity psychological interventions delivered both individually and in groups. There is a particular need within inpatient service to increase the availability of low intensity psychological therapy.The post will involve some evening and weekend work.

The Trust has strong links with, and provides placements for, the clinical and counselling psychology courses and several members of the department are engaged in teaching in local clinical training courses.

Probationary Period

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,108 and a maximum payment of £5,177).

**Applicants should have**: A first degree in Psychology and meet BPS eligibility criteria for graduate basis for chartered membership. Experience of working with people in crisis in a ward environment Experience or enthusiasm for low intensity psychological therapy (including groups) Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary service context.
