Our client is a leading provider of expertise to their clients to maintain and continue the development of the infrastructure of both highways and telecommunications sectors throughout the UK. Due to expansion they are looking for a new member to come and join their team as a Stores Operative.
**Overview of Role**
Member of a team that is responsible for:
- Controlling and recording the receipt and issue of all materials in the yard and warehouses
- Keeping the stock safe and in good condition
- Keeping the yard and warehouses tidy and well organised
- Maintaining a high level of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance, in accordance with company policy
**Key Accountabilities**
- Unload vehicles bringing materials to the yard, check materials against documentation, and store material according to agreed processes
- Load vehicles collecting materials from the yard, checking materials against relevant documentation
- Ensure all materials movement documents are filed and movements recorded on stock control software
- Perform periodic stock counts as necessary
- Record issue and receipt of Plant in the yard, and pass to Plant team
- Be alert to, and prevent or report, unauthorised removal of materials or plant from the yard
- Keep the yard secure, and prevent or report unauthorised access
- Dispose of yard waste according to agreed policy
- Keep all materials safe and in good condition. Look for ways to improve the way that materials are stored to promote swift materials movements, prevent damage, and support health and safety
- Be aware of all utilities shut off points, and fire prevention and detection equipment. Be competent in the operation of these in accordance with company policy
- Work proactively with other staff members in support of company objectives
- Report high or low stock holdings to Procurement team
**Key Skills**
- Conscientious worker, delivering good work with mínimal supervision
- Appreciates the importance of following agreed processes, but also thinks creatively about improving processes
- Proactively helpful to all who have authorised access to the yard
- Health, Safety and Environmentally conscious
- Adequate physical fitness for the role
- Knowledge of fibre optic and telecommunications materials preferred, but not essential

**Salary: up to £28k**
**Job Types: Full-time, Permanent (48 hours), 25 days holiday per annum**
**Salary**: Up to £28,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday

- Longstanton, Cambridgeshire: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
