We have a new opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our Lifestyle and Works Team in the Lichfield and Stafford area.
Mencap’s Lifestyle and Works division run education-based programmes for people with a learning disability to move closer to the job market and gain employment. These programmes are called ‘3 Ships’ and they include Internships, Traineeships and Apprenticeships.

Are you passionate about supporting people with a learning disability? This Learning Support Assistant role is a part time role, 16 hours per week.
The successful LSA will support our learners on our Supported Internship programme. The role may be carried out in a classroom-based environment and out in the community. You will need to be a confident communicator across all levels, as you will be in touch with learners, carers and parents.

Do you have the essential key skills and experience for the LSA?
- Experience of supporting people who have special educational needs & disabilities including autism
- Ability to inspire learners and implement effective engagement and support strategies
- Well organised & self-motivated
- Ability to take direction from the Tutor to best support learners
- Ability to manage different situations sensitively & in a timely manner
- Experience of using Excel/word/IT systems
- Have certificates/Qualifications for English and Maths at level 2 or above
There is mínimal travel needed in the role.
