Assistant Merchandiser

**We have an opportunity for a Full-Time Assistant Merchandiser to join the Head Office Merchandising Team, based at our York Head Office. This will be a fully office-based role and report to the Head of Merchandising Operations.**

As an Assistant Merchandiser you’ll support your aligned Merchandiser with stock allocations, transfers, and administrative tasks to maximise profitability across stores and online. You’ll maintain monthly contact with stores to ensure correct stock levels, analyse sales performance, and suggest improvements. Reporting to the Merchandiser, this role strengthens regional teams, enabling a more efficient, data-driven approach to driving sales and optimising stock.

This role sits in a wider Merchandising team that has 5 pairs of Merchandisers/Assistant Merchandisers, aligned by retail regions and product groups alongside the Buying Team. We are looking for a colleague with retail experience ideally, and a passion for our products, an openness to learn, solid MS Excel skills and a head for numbers.

**Want to see a snapshot of your duties?**
- Allocation and processing of stock in accordance with stores requests and/or the Merchandiser instructions.
- Process essential weekly reports and create allocations based on sales criteria and feedback.
- Assisting in new store/refit allocations.
- Complete size runs for forward orders including packing assortments.
- Updating future range plans within specific product groups.
- Undertake quarterly store visits to understand stock positions and gather feedback.
- Provide cover for the team during absence/holidays.

**Here’s what we are looking for to be our Assistant Merchandiser**:

- Previous retail experience is preferred
- Ability and interest for processing and interpreting numeric information
- Confident Working knowledge of MS Excel.
- Ability to make decisions and use own initiative
- Strong prioritisation skills and ability to manage own workload.
- Maths GCSE Grade C or equivalent

The Pavers story began in York in 1971 when Catherine Paver took out a £200 bank loan (for a sofa she told them) to fund her new business. She had big dreams of changing the world of footwear and a passion to provide comfortable and stylish shoes for all.

Starting small, she sold shoes at village halls and homeware parties before opening the first Pavers shop in Scarborough in 1981, when Catherine’s three sons joined the business.
