Merchandiser

**We have an opportunity for a 12 Month Temporary Merchandiser to join the Head Office Merchandising Team, based at our York Head Office. This will be a full time, fully office-based role and report to the Head of Merchandising Operations.**

As a Merchandiser, you’ll maximise sales and profit across a defined range of product groups and stores, working closely with Home Shopping and Marketplace teams to ensure stock is allocated effectively and in line with performance.

You’ll collaborate with Buyers, Area Managers, and Store Managers to plan and trade ranges, making commercial decisions that optimise sell-through, pricing, and stock balance across stores and online. Providing insights and store reviews, you’ll support the Area Manager in ensuring each location has the right product mix to meet targets.

Working with Retail, Marketing, and Buying teams, you’ll align trading priorities, promotions, and stock levels to deliver a consistent, profitable customer offer. Reporting to the Head of Merchandising, this role combines analysis, commercial focus, and collaboration to drive results.

- Maximise performance within your product groups and trading channels.
- Data analysis to plan allocations, process and transfer stock, including using our SMART allocation system.
- Planning for new store/refits within your region.
- Complete size runs for stock orders.
- Process essential weekly admin duties.
- Building range plans for the specific products within your area of responsibility.
- Range planning of products for specific trading periods (Black Friday, Xmas etc).
- Range planning of products for individual stores.
- Analysis of required volumes and delivery dates for in season and continuity products.
- Analysis of ranges and brands in season.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Retail, Buying and Marketing teams.
- Assist with Retail queries and provide analysis on your stores.
- Generate and issue precise sales information and summaries across the business.
- Undertake quarterly store visits.

**Here’s what we are looking for to be our Merchandiser**:

- Previous retail experience is preferred
- Ability and interest for processing and interpreting numeric information
- Confident working knowledge of MS Excel.
- Ability to make decisions and use own initiative
- Strong prioritisation skills and ability to manage own workload.
- Maths GCSE Grade C or equivalent

The Pavers story began in York in 1971 when Catherine Paver took out a £200 bank loan (for a sofa she told them) to fund her new business. She had big dreams of changing the world of footwear and a passion to provide comfortable and stylish shoes for all.

Starting small, she sold shoes at village halls and homeware parties before opening the first Pavers shop in Scarborough in 1981, when Catherine’s three sons joined the business. One of her sons, Stuart, ran the business as Managing Director for over 40 years, joined by his son Jason in 2016. As of September 2023, Jason Paver is now the Managing Director of Pavers Ltd, with Stuart Paver moving to Chairman, taking the company into the 3rd generation of family run leadership.

From these modest beginnings, Pavers Shoes has grown to be a UK leader in today’s footwear industry, with over 180 stores nationwide encompassing our more recently acquired brands including Jones Bootmaker, Herring Shoes, Padders & Van Dal.
