We are looking for new Care Home Cook who is caring and enthusiastic and either has previous experience of working in care environment or someone would like to start a new career in a care home setting.

**Full Description**:
The primary role of a Cook is to work alongside our head chef and other kitchen staff to prepare meals and to provide our residents with high quality safe meal preparation and to ensure kitchen safety that complies with all CQC and Health & Safety standards.

The cook needs to be able to ensure that all meal preparation activities are carried out and effectively manage a small team to ensure ; clearing and dish washing service; floors; surfaces; food storage; fridge’s; freezers and all kitchen activities are performed in a kitchen that is clean, hygienic and meets the standards required to maintain food safety and our five star award by Environmental Health.

The role will involve helping with ordering and making sure all stored food is dated & labelled and the stock is rotated in line with procedures of a kitchen. Ensure all checks and documentation are done daily and recorded. You must hold a Level 2/3 food safety hygiene certificate and undergo all mandatory training provided by the company. You will adhere to all relevant policies and procedures and be a part of the efficient running of the home, creating a warm and pleasant atmosphere for our residents and your colleagues.

**Responsibilities**:

- Prepare, cook and serve hot and cold meals, as and when required.
- Provide for special dietary requirements where necessary, and take into account the preferences of individual Clients.
- Responsible for the management of kitchen Assistants
- Liaise with the Home Manager and Head Chef when planning menus in order to provide a balanced nutritious diet, making the best use of available fresh foods
- Management of all kitchen staff carry out their basic food and hygiene training, ensuring safe handling and delivery of food.
- Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence
- Ensure statutory Health and Safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas
- Ensure all crockery and equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately, and that the overall cleaning of the kitchen area (and, where appropriate, the dining areas) is carried out effectively
- Understand, and ensure the implementation of the homes Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales
- Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained
- Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you
