We are looking for an enthusiastic, pro-active After School Care Assistant**to join our friendly team.
Reporting to Head of EYFS (After School Care Manager)
Term time only (34 weeks per year), Monday to Thursday 3.30pm - 6.30pm
Salary £17.50 per hour (FTE £34,125) plus benefits
Start date: 22 April 2025

**The Role**
The core focus of the After School Care Assistant is to ensure the provision of high quality out of hours school provision for children, within a positive, safe & happy environment. The post holder will do this by organising and providing an appropriate range of activities and food. Take a lead role in running the club.
**Key Responsibilities**
In working with pupils, After School Care Assistants are also expected:
- To deliver a suitable programme of imaginative and innovative activities suitable to the needs and interests of children age 3- 13yrs old
- Be responsible to the Head of EYFS (After School Care Manager).
- To ensure the provision offers a safe and stimulating play environment.
- To assist with the planning, preparing and delivery of activities, which meet children’s individual developmental needs.
- To assist in the administration of the club, keeping relevant records and ensuring that the agreed club procedures are implemented.
- Ensuring that areas are clean and cleared at the end of sessions
- To carry out any other duties to enhance the provision of After School Care
- Oversee the after-school care service by ensuring room is set up, preparing weekly ‘shopping list’ for tea supplies and being the link with School management
- Responsibility to source equipment to a suitable level
- Organise activities where appropriate with the children
- Establish good relationships with the children, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all children. Show initiative and support children appropriately. Working alongside colleagues to ensure smooth running of the room
- Registration and dismissal of children and ensure the safe collection of children at the end of club including communication and liaising with parents
- . Preparing a ‘light tea’ and supervise the children
- To know, demonstrate and promote the Rose Hill School’s ethos
- To be sensitive to social relationships between children
- To be proactive in reporting concerns about a pupil either to the appropriate member of staff or through the relevant reporting process
- To be familiar with and follow all relevant School policies and procedures such as the School’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, Policy for Behaviour and Anti-Bullying
**Health and Safety**
- To safeguard pupils’ health and safety by maintaining good order and discipline, and by following the necessary rules and regulations when using equipment.
- To communicate to the Head of EYFS (After School Care Manager), as appropriate, any concerns regarding the general welfare and safety of pupils.
- To be familiar with the School’s fire safety procedures and to participate in fire drills.
**Safeguarding and Child Protection**
- To be familiar with the relevant School policies, as well as KCSIE, and to follow School procedures relating to safeguarding children.
- To attend regular training sessions on Child Protection and Safeguarding issues; a record of attendance is kept by the School.
- To contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead or a member of the Safeguarding Team with any concern about a child at the School.
**Person Specification**
The person appointed will demonstrate a particular interest in working with children in education. Good oral and written standards will be expected, as well as efficient administrative skills. A sense of humour, the ability to remain calm in challenging situations, and excellent interpersonal skills are all essential. The ability to work as part of a team is crucial
