Complex Care Assistant Job Overview Location: Tunbridge Wells Hourly Rate: £15.00 to £16.83 per hour (with enhanced BH rates and over Festive Season) Shifts available: Days and Nights Schedule: Flexibility to work shifts, including Monday to Friday and alternate weekends Full time or part time hours available throughout the day: 7:00am- 2:30pm 2:30pm- 10:00pm 7:00am- 10:00pm 6:00pm- 10:00pm plus sleep in night Complex Care Assistants within the team may be required to take part in the on call rota. This is being at call - on standby should assistance be needed. Eligibility Criteria for a Complex Care Assistant Previous care experience and understanding of working with people disadvantaged through illness and disability Full UK driving licence (essential) Eligibility to work in the UK (no sponsorship offered) Experience/understanding of complex communication needs (verbal, non‑verbal, augmented communication and Makaton) We are looking for a Complex Care Assistant to join our team in Tunbridge Wells. Our position is to look after a young lady in her 30's who requires 24 hours care, seven days a week. The lady has complex communication needs so an understanding of verbal, non‑verbal, augmented communication and Makaton would be helpful, although training will be given. She has a form of Cerebral Palsy, PEG feed and anxiety. Our client is very active and enjoys meeting friends and going out. She loves engaging with the community as well as having a quality time at home. She enjoys swimming, listening to music or watching a good movie. Throughout the working day you will be working alongside another Complex Care Assistant. Before you begin, you will have the opportunity to meet the client and the family to ensure you are well‑prepared for the role. Main duties for a Complex Care Assistant Provide personal care including getting up in the morning and going to bed at night, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, dressing Medication administration Food preparation and carry out peg feeding General household domestic duties, including housework and laundry Use manual handling equipment safely and correctly Maintain good, positive communication and provide companionship and maintain contact with client’s family and friends Previous experience with the below is a strong advantage, but not essential as full training and support will be provided: Working with individuals who can display behaviours that challenge, and learning disability Autism Anxiety Cerebral Palsy Medication PEG Makaton Planned physical intervention Complex Care Assistant Requirements We look for a complex care assistant who is genuinely interested in care and be prepared for the unexpected.
