**An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Administrative Officer to join the Coroners Office team at Hampshire County Council.**

**The Role**:
**Coroners** are independent judicial officers who are responsible for investigating violent, unnatural, or sudden deaths. Their role is to establish who has died, and how, when and where they died. Coroners have a duty to investigate a death and if necessary, hold an inquest.

The **Administrative Officer** role is key to the Service, providing a high-quality admin and front-line support function to the team and the general public. Our admin team carry out the first level of investigation prior to a referral going to a Coroner for their consideration. The role reports directly to the Senior Coroners Service Officer.

**What you’ll do**:

- Assess the validity and reliability of sources of information to establish effective networks of contacts and provide timely and accurate responses to enquiries. Select appropriate courses of action and make recommendations from a variety of options to provide appropriate advice to managers. Allocate and prioritise work to meet deadlines and make best use of resource.

**What we’re looking for**:

- We are looking for an experienced administrator to join our friendly team who has proven administrative, IT and communication skills. The ability to multi-task, work under pressure and handle complex sensitive data is essential as is attention to detail. Effective call management and communication skills are crucial as you will be in contact with families at a sensitive and difficult time.
