We are a registered community interest company, soon to become a registered charity, with a supportive and highly skilled Board of Trustees determined to provide effective support for the organisation and the local community.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**
Responsible to: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible to the Board for its overall success via the Chair.
Line management responsibility: Direct line management for the employed and voluntary teams.
Summary of the role:

- The (CEO) serves as the leader of the organisation and its primary public representative. Reporting to the Board of Trustees the CEO works collaboratively with the Board to ensure that the organisation fulfils its aims and objectives and creates the best strategies that ensure its future success.
- To provide leadership and support to the BCT Board (of Directors), contributing to the strategic management and culture of the organisation with the aim of achieving its Vision, its Values and Strategic Objectives.
**Core Responsibilities**:
1. Leadership - Drive the business forward whilst acting in the best interests of BCT, the Board, the paid staff, the volunteer team, and young people.

2. Leadership - Be an ambassador for BCT, positively promoting and representing the organisation.

3. Support to the Board - To support the effective running of the Board, providing guidance and counsel to the Chair, ensuring that all papers, reports, risks, etc. are prepared and circulated in a timely manner.

4. Advice and guidance to the Board - To ensure that the Board are kept up to date with appropriate information on all relevant matters.

5. Effective governance - Ensure that the systems and processes are in place that drive the overall direction, effectiveness, supervision, and accountability of BCT.

6. Compliance - Ensure that BCT complies with all its legal, structural, and funding obligations.

7. Organisational structure - Ensure the maintenance of an effective organisational structure and working with the board to make changes when required.

8. Performance management - To implement an effective performance management structure/ framework.

9. Supervising and guiding the BCT Staff Team - Managing, developing, and nurturing the BCT staff cohort, recruiting and developing a strong Volunteer Team, whilst ensuring as strong and positive link between the Board and the staff and volunteer team.

10. Collaboration - Strengthen and build relationships with appropriate agencies and individuals from across the public, private and VCSE sectors.

11. Business Planning - Produce and drive forward a sustainable and ambitious Business Plan for BCT.

12. Risk Management - Ensure that proper systems of control, risk assessment and management are established and maintained, including with regards to Health and Safety.

13. Policy Analysis - To maintain appropriate knowledge in relation to policies (local and national) that impact on the work of BCT and the communities it supports.

14. Safeguarding - To be the designated/named Safeguarding Lead for the organisation.

15. Consultation - To respond to consultation as the opportunity arises in order to further the aims and objectives of BCT and the wider VCSE in Stockton-on-Tees.

16. External Funding - To identify, source and secure resources to support the work of BCT and the communities it supports.

17. Innovation - To lead innovation by being progressive and proactive ensuring that BCT stays at the forefront of exciting and ground-breaking work delivered by the VCSE sector in Stockton-on-Tees.

18. Funded Programme Delivery - To be accountable for the successful delivery, performance monitoring and reporting of externally funded programmes, e.g. HAF.

19. Recruitment, Selection and Retention - Support the Board in the recruitment, selection and proactive retention of staff members and volunteers.
