Kitchen Assistant

Baylham Care Centre are looking for an enthusiastic individual to work alongside our established team to support the preparation and service of nutritious meals for residents in a care home setting, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen at all times, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Assist the chef in preparing and serving meals that meet residents' dietary needs and preferences.
- Wash, peel, and chop vegetables and other ingredients as directed.
- Set up and clear dining areas before and after meals.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment either by hand or using a dishwasher.
- Clean and maintain kitchen surfaces, appliances, and floors.
- Assist in the receipt and storage of deliveries, ensuring stock rotation and minimizing food waste.
- Follow all food hygiene and health & safety guidelines, including COSHH and HACCP procedures.
- Report any kitchen equipment faults or food safety concerns to the cook or manager.
- Support residents respectfully during mealtimes if required.
- Work collaboratively with care staff to ensure residents' dietary requirements and preferences are understood and met.
- Attend mandatory training and staff meetings as required.
**Essential Skills & Qualifications**:
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under mínimal supervision.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and respect for residents.
**Desirable**:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment, especially within a care setting.
- Awareness of special diets, allergies, and texture-modified food.
**Job Type**: Part-time
Pay: £12.21-£12.41 per hour
