The Cyber Defence and Risk organisation (CyDR) is at the forefront of Cyber Security and Information Technology within Defence. The team plays a vital component in protecting MOD and national security. CyDR is responsible for enabling Defence through the provision of specialist assurance and cyber security services across the Department. This includes our industry partners, other Government Departments, including NCSC, and our international allies.

**Job description**:
The CyDR Crypt-Key Assurance Specialist role is primarily responsible for identifying and reducing risk or threats and enforcing cryptographic governance across defence and industry. This role supports this function via cryptographic assurance audits, within the Midlands region of the UK.

This role will include managing, prioritising, and implementing audits and formally recording their findings through audit reports, provide ad-hoc visits to high risk or failing accounts and be the main interface between end users and CKEA on assurance matters and support policy development.

Additionally, you will support end users with opening of cryptographic accounts to the correct standards and are compliant through the accreditation process. Secondary functions include capturing of analytics for specific areas of responsibility and supporting risk management within the crypt
- key enterprise, specifically regarding audit non-compliances.

This integral role will be as a member of the Crypt-Key Assurance team, a geographically separated three-person team, that represents the Crypt-Key Enterprise Authority (C-KEA), providing pivotal engagement through physical and remote audits, predominantly industry accounts within the Midlands area. There will be travel to other parts of the UK and overseas too and the frequency of these will be dependent on account category and complexity.

You will also conduct suitability engagement/inspections to ensure that Facility Security Clearance (FSC) companies, that require a Cryptographic account, have the requisite security, personnel and contract requirements. Additionally, you will assist the Assurance Manager in providing assurance statistics, to help shape future policy and doctrine

- Line-Management Responsibilities for CyDR CK Assurance Team members
- Plan, schedule and implement cryptographic audits within the West & East Midlands region, wider UK areas and overseas
- Effective management of overall Audit Schedule, including budgetary costs, ensuring that priority or failing accounts are managed accordingly including escalation action.
- Liaise with customers, principal security advisers, MOD Sponsors, and United Kingdom National Distribution Authority (UKNDA) Account Managers on all related account requests and issues.
- The completion of formal recording of audit reports and the compilation of monthly statistics on any non-compliances raised and delivery of Quarterly Assurance Analytics for CyDR CK.
