We are seeking to recruit caring and compassionate individuals to join our friendly team as **Palliative Home** Support Worker**, working at our services throughout Gateshead.

As a Palliative Home Support Worker your responsibilities are to support the individual's care, wishes and preferences leading up to the end stages of their life. You will also be required to offer support to grieving families. Due to the nature of this role, we require calm and compassionate individuals that demonstrate empathy.

You will be required to perform a range of other duties such as personal care, medication, positional changes, pressure sore monitoring and support with any other additional medical needs.

Providing care at the end of an individual's life requires sensitivity, awareness and respect for the individual's choices and decisions. Full end of life training will be provided.

**Pay**:
Working on shifts,
- **_£9.60p/hr + 20p visit payment paid for every care call undertaken_**
- Mileage - **40p** per mile (average £175 per month)

**Working Hours and Shift Patterns**:
Join our team of Palliative Home Support Worker. We offer full and part-time hours, available on a shift pattern, which includes evenings and weekends.
- Early shifts: 7:00am - 3:00pm (pop-ins)
- Late Shifts: 3:00pm - 10:00pm (pop-ins)
- Alternate weekend working

**The Role**:
Previous care experience is not required to be considered for this role but is desirable. We ask that you are genuinely caring and compassionate with a drive to make a difference to the lives of those who we support in our local communities. As a **Palliative Home Support Worker**, you will provide care and support to meet individual personal care needs including end of life care. You will:

- Provide personal care, including intimate care that protects people's dignity.
- Be Kind - through honouring the individual's choices within a personalised care plan and demonstrating compassion throughout.
- Provide social and emotional support whilst adhering to and respecting religious beliefs and preferences.
- Helping make end of life arrangements and offering bereavement support whilst providing companionship.
- Oral care and pressure care.
- Supporting additional medical needs dependent on the individual's circumstances.

**Induction Training**:
All training is fully funded, and you will be paid for your time to complete the training. As a** Palliative Home Support Worker**, you will be provided with a comprehensive induction training on:

- Individual wellbeing and personal outcomes;
- Fluids and nutrition;
- Medication, moving and handling, basic life support and first aid;
- Infection prevention and control, health and safety;
- Professional boundaries, confidentiality, equality, and diversity;
- Safeguarding, mental health and capacity;
**Additional Training**:
Due to the complexities involved with palliative care you will receive the following training:

- Extensive end of life training.
- We are nurse-led with any specialist training needs facilitated in-house._
