**Job Purpose**:

- To ensure that the department operates to the highest Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
- To ensure that the department operates to the highest quality standards.
- To lead the shift team to achieve the daily goals and targets of the department.
- Contribute to the production output of the shift team.

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensure compliance with Company Health, Safety and Environmental Policies.
- Ensure adherence to defined working practices at all times, including AWPs & WOs.
- Ensure compliance with the Company Quality Management System.
- Set, maintain and display high personal standards at all times.
- Be a hands on leader, leading team members to achieve the daily goals and targets of the department.
- Operate department equipment, in adherence to AWPs, as required to contribute to the day’s requirements.
- Resolve day to day issues for the department by liaising with people in other departments, such as planning, engineering, R&D and Quality as required, referring more significant issues to Senior Production Supervisor, or Manager.
- Communicate effectively to team and across shift patterns.
- Ensure that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained at all times.
- Ensure department equipment is maintained in good working order highlighting any action required, by directly contacting the engineering department (breakdowns), or raising a job request.
- Highlight and resolve issues, utilising the company safety (1B), and quality (1Q) reporting systems.
- Work with the team to contribute to the continuous improvement of procedures and standards.
- On a daily basis support the Supervisor in the completion of their tasks.
- To take full responsibility for the shift in the absence of the Senior Production Supervisor.
- Highlight gaps in training on shift team and carry out training as required.
- Assist Senior Production Supervisor in the Performance Management of the Shift Team, to include PDRs, 1 to 1s, and other performance issues.

**Skills and Experience**:

- Health, Safety & Environmental Awareness.
- Experience of chemical handling, batch chemical processing or other related manufacturing environment.
- Experience of working to Quality Systems and Procedures.
- ILM/NEBS introductory qualification or proven experience of leading in a manufacturing environment, or the potential to do so.
- People management skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Team Player
